Let It Snow!

Yes, my friends!! It has happened again...even better and more than last time! Snow, snow, and more snow, and I'm a very happy camper! Not that I plan on camping anytime soon, mind you! lol I just seem to be VERY excited about the snow this year! Although some people around here don't seem to share my enthusiasm...those people being the ones that have to drive in it, shovel it, and traipse through it! ;o)
In honor of the beautiful snow I felt the need to create a snow themed card! For this card I used a wonderful image I received from my sweet friend Joy, at Art Angels Designs. I used a great sketch that Dunja did over at the Cards and More Challenge Blog.
Here is the sketch:

Finally, here are some photos of my back yard. The sun peeked out just as I picked up my camera...it was the only time it showed up all day! Isn't that fun?

I think perhaps the residents of this house moved out in disgust! lol You can see that it's a very wet and heavy snow...perfect for snowballs! I'm sending some to a few of you, and you know who you are! Enjoy! :o)

A Card - In Brown and White

Happy Friday to all of you, my friends!
I have another new card for you today. It's another one all in shades of brown and white! The sun was shining today, so the shades are very different than the last one! The image is a Whiff of Joy stamp that I won in my friend Katharina's blog giveaway a little while ago. I colored it up with my Prismacolour pencils and odorless mineral spirits. Other than the brown pearls, all the other materials for this card came from the October Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. The chevron circle in the center is actually a coaster that came in the kit. I ruffled the white ribbon around the edge of it, and then tied the last bit into a double bow. I fussy cut strips of a brown chevron paper and placed that around the outside edge of the card. It took a little bit of fiddling to miter the corners but I think it worked out very nicely. I punched the flowers out and layered them up. I also applied some stickles to them...oh, that was from a previous card kit. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out, and then finally I added all the brown pearls! There you have it! I hope you all have a fabulous day and a wonderful weekend! We've got some snow in the forecast for Sunday...wouldn't that be fun? :o)

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #12 - Trust and Obey

Hello, Lovelies!
First I want to thank you all for your wonderful comments on my recent posts! I sure do appreciate the encouragement you give me! I'd also like to welcome the new friends who have joined my blog recently! :o)
I'm still one page behind but I have a new Hymn and Scripture Challenge page for you! You all know the routine...yes, it's yet another one of my FAVORITE hymns? lol You can read Patter's devotional HERE.
I must confess that I had been feeling rather uninspired when it came to working on these pages. Don't get me wrong...I have never felt uninspired about the hymns or the Scriptures...just about the composition of the 8 1/2 X 11 inch pages. I gave it some thought and decided that it was the music page itself that was giving me the problem. If I put that on my page, it limits me in what else I can do. Then I realized that nobody said I have to put it on my page! lol These are familiar hymns that I know the words to, and I don't need the music for any instrumental purposes. So I have decided that I will include the entire music sheet sometimes, and at other times I will be a bit more creative with them. On these occasions I will attach the music sheet on the back of my page.
This time I chose to use the music sheet to cut out the butterfly. Then I added some tiny glass marbles in the emptly portions of the wings. I wrote the chorus of the song at the bottom of the page with a silver pen. I also included two Scripture verses; one about trust, and one about obeying.
Another verse I want to share with you is Psalm 28:7. It says:

"The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise Him."

What a comfort it is to know how trustworthy the Lord is! When we put our trust in Him, He will help us and give us the strength to obey Him and follow the path He has for us; be it smooth or bumpy! Then comes the JOY when He showers us with BLESSINGS! God is so good! Have a beautiful day! :o)

Here's a close-up of the glass marbles:

Materials Used:
Papers: Recollections Cardstock;
Punches: Martha Stewart - Wild Flowers Punch Around the Page;

MM Slice Design Card - Happy Trails;
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Festive Berries, Dusty Concord;
Marker: Marvy Le Plume II - no. 8 Violet;
Flowers: Prima Essentials;

Rainy Day Card On A Sunny Day!

Happy Monday to you all! I hope you're all having a beautiful day in your corner of the world! :o)
I've created this card for the latest challenge over at Twist of Faith Card Challenge. I'm running a bit late but I think I'll make it with a few hours to spare! Their Challenge #6 is appropriately named "For Every Season".  During the last week we have experienced three seasons here: winter (you all heard about my snowfall), typical fall weather, and today we're back to a taste of summer! As soon as this is posted I'm heading outside to enjoy it!
I love the change of seasons! It's one of the best things about living in Canada. We have four distinct seasons and each one is special for a different reason. I have found that my favorite season has changed over the years. Is it the same for you?
For my card I picked  this wonderful Scripture verse found in Ezekiel 34:26. The second half of the verse says:

"I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing."

I must say that I have truly been showered with blessings lately, so I just had to use this verse on my card. To go along with it I used this sweet image I purchased from Birdie Brown. Do you see that look of surprise on the face of both the frog and the little girl? That's how I feel about God's overwhelming goodness to me! lol  Another reason that I really like this image is because when I was in kindergarten I had a little red cape with a hood that my Mom made for me. I loved that cape! Yes, all the kids called me Little Red Riding Hood and it didn't bother me a bit! I knew it was because they all wished they had a cape just like mine...even the boys! haha It was just that cool! ;o) It doesn't really show up in the picture but I put Glossy Accents on all the raindrops and created a puddle of it at the bottom of the card. I added the one little flower in her hair.
I hope that you are enjoying whatever season you find yourself in today! Just remember that there is JOY and beauty in every season of weather...and of life too! :o)

Materials Used:
Papers: K & Company - Sweet Nectar, Recollection Cardstock;
Die: Memory Box - Puffy Clouds;
Punches: Stampin' Up -  Large Boho Blossoms,
Ek Success - Scalloped Scallop;
Digital Image: Birdie Brown - Rainy Day;
Prismacolor Pencils and OMS;
Ink: Martha Stewart -  Blue Sky;
Ranger Glossy Accents.

I usually only share music videos with my Hymn and Scripture Challenge posts. However, when I was working on my card this beautiful song came on. One line was "...what if Your blessings came through raindrops?..." It was just so appropriate to the season of my card that I had to share it with all of you!
Please listen to it and enjoy! :o)

Happy Snowy Wednesday!

Hello, my friends! I must say I had the best time making this card! I think part of it is because I started in a rather giddy mood! We had our first snowfall today! Woohoo!! I love the first snowfall of the year! There's something extra fun about creating in a cozy craft-room while watching big white flakes falling from the sky! Of course, it's stopped now and there's nothing on the ground...but I suspect it will return one day soon! lol
On to my card...
I made this card using my Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit. I just opened the box and went where it led. My favorite paper is the whole kit is the old barn wood page that I used in the center of my card. It looks exactly like a table that I have outside on my patio. I would call it my favorite piece of furniture...but that would just be crazy!? ;o) It was rescued from the little old house that was on our yard before we built our house. I digress yet again...
I stamped the flowers and leaves onto a soft floral paper using ink from a previous kit. Then I fussy cut around all the pieces, including the skinny little stems. I cut the flower out twice and layered it with dimensionals. I cut the doily die out of another soft gingham paper from the kit. Since the wood piece was cut with a pinking shear type die, I used my pinking shears to cut out the sentiment, and popped that up on dimensionals as well. For the ruffle along the bottom, I just put down a piece of Score Tape and finger pleated the wrinkle ribbon from the kit along the tape, tucking in the ends. Then I created a double bow using my fingers. I once watched a Bow Easy demo on making a double bow and realized you can use your fingers in exactly the same way! ;o) Finally, I used my new favorite product! I added all the pearly bits with the White Opal Liquid Pearls that was included in the kit! I seriously had to stop myself from adding more! It's the first time I've used that product and I will definitely be using it MUCH more! LOVE it!
I hope you can see how much I enjoyed this one! There was something about opening this kit box today with no plan in mind and just playing! I like the contrast of the old wood and the delicate doily, then you add the soft floral, the sparkly pearl and my favorite kind of sentiment...it all adds up to a Happy Snowy Wednesday! I hope yours was happy too! :o)

Hymn and Scripture Challenge #11 - Great Is Thy Faithfulness

* If you missed yesterday's post, scroll down and take a peek after this one! *

Happy Wednesday to you all! I did have this page ready to post last night but I decided to leave it for today instead.  I thought the shock of two posts from me in one day might be too much for you! lol This page is actually LATE. It's the first time in almost three years of these challenges that I've had a late page! I know, right? :o) You can read Patter's devotional HERE.
I did things a little bit different with this page. Rather than use the full music sheet on my page, I cut the birdhouse out of it. The bird is also cut out of the music sheet. I've got the chorus of the song on one journaling spot, and a Scripture verse on another. I posted my photo large enough that you can read them. Then I have all the verses of the song written out on a tri-fold tag that slips in behind the birdhouse. I cut a 12" paper down to the 81/2 X 11 that I'm using for this challenge. Then working with the pretty paper, I just added further embellishment with my new cherry blossom die and a leaf punch.
Yes, this is another one of my FAVORITE hymns! It's a beautiful song that reminds us of the never changing faithfulness of our God! Jobs we have, the things we own, the places we live, even the people in our lives; they all come and go. How reassuring it is to know that God is a constant with no "variableness." Another great Scripture verse that this hymn is based on can be found in Lamentations 3:22-23:

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."

I find this hymn and these verses very encouraging! I pray you will as well! Have a beautiful day full of JOY! :o)

Below is a photo of the tag hidden behind the birdhouse.
It shows two verses and the third is on the back. It reads:

"Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!"
(I've underlined my favorite part of the song! )

Fall, Beautiful Fall!

Happy Tuesday, my friends!
Today I'm sharing another one of the projects I completed on Saturday. This project was inspired by the season. We have had such a fantastic Fall! I'm not a fan of summer heat but when you have those warm summer temperatures at this time of year it's a different story! The addition of cool evenings and crisp mornings are a beautiful thing indeed! We have been taking full advantage of the weather and enjoying ourselves immensely! It all began with a Riverboat Cruise down the South Saskatchewan River. I took LOTS of pictures but I'll just share a couple with you here. :o)
Anyways, I decided I better make a mini album for all my photos and I think this will be the cover. The plan is to actually print out my photos and fill the album this time to show you. Yeah...we'll see how that goes! lol
Hope you all have a beautiful day! :o)
